Last weekend we rescued 60 glass blocks. They were salvaged from a glass shower wall by a contractor that does renovation work. He estimated the age of the blocks to be from the 1950’s or 1960’s. They have a subtle green tint that is reminiscent of that time, so he may be right.
The old white mortar has been knocked off the edges, and the blocks have been carefully stacked. The majority of them wil be used in our future shower in the adobe house. A few will be incorporated into the semi-circular wall of the outdoor rock shower, and three included in the west wall of the ramada.
It is wonderful to use salvaged materials from other sources. They usually have a story, and all those stories will make a new book.
