Went outside to listen to the Great Horned owls that nest in the mountains above where I now live. And spotted the moon peeking over the mountain summit. Grabbed the camera, but didn’t take time to find the tripod. Didn’t want to miss the moment.
The photos are hand-held, self-timer set at 10 seconds to avoid camera movement. Out in my socks and flannels, I braced my body and arms against anything solid I could find. And held my breath. The clouds, stars and mountain silhouette make this photo. As Orion rose, the clouds departed and it lost its appeal for me. Next time I’ll plan and have the tripod handy.
